Silvermine Beach Hotel in Hong Kong is the only resort hotel located on scenic Lantau Island, an hour's ferry ride from Hong Kong Island. Only five minutes walking distance from the main ferry pier at Silvermine Bay, the hotel boasts beautiful views of the beach and ocean. Guests can visit nearby Tai O, a fishing village also known as Hong Kong's Little Venice, and Po Lin Monastery, Hong Kong's major center for Buddhism. Also situated on the island is the world's largest outdoor seated bronze Buddha. A favorite among locals and tourists is the Lantau Peak, where hikers can go to witness the sunrise. The Tung Chung Town Centre and Hong Kong International Airport are 45 minutes from the hotel via the public bus. Central and Tsim Sha Tsui can be reached by a 30 minute ferry ride. Guests can dine on Asian and authentic Cantonese cuisine at the hotel's restaurant, and enjoy drinks at the Terrace Café and Silvermine Lounge. Meeting rooms feature Internet access, overhead and slide projectors, electronic white boards, flip charts, and audio and video equipment. Only double bed rooms are available from Oct. 9, 2006 to Oct. 13, 2006. Renovation Notice: The hotel will begin renovating the exterior wall and roof of the South Wing starting May 4, 2008.
